Sub Cult | Broadgate

Award-winning street food heroes Sub Cult have found themselves a semi-permanent site in Finsbury Avenue Square. It’s technically an 18 month “popup”, but some restaurants don’t last that long these days (RIP, Little Pitt and Shotgun). Sub Cult’s space is a sexy but simple container with space for 15 inside, though most people get their substantial subs to go and sit in the square. What are you having? Super soft, freshly baked bagel-brioche sub rolls, loaded with exciting ingredients. We smashed through two specials – ‘The Black and Blue’ with rare roast beef, truffle mayo, Grana Padano, shallot jam, pickled serrano chilli and blue cheese, and the ‘Sub-Marine’ overflowing with scallops, calamari, pulled pork shoulder, crackling, rocket and lemon & parsley mayo. If you turn up in time for breakfast (7am-11am), you get your hands on the ‘Sub Contractor’ filled with smoked back bacon, white pudding and a free range hens egg. P.S. They also serve Climpson & Sons coffee and Crosstown Doughnuts. N.B. Sub Cult is only open Monday-Friday, from 7am til 4am currently, so you might have to play hookie from work if you aren’t local. Otherwise, you can find them over the weekends at Brockley and Maltby Street markets.
