The Stable | Whitechapel

Whilst Londoners are supposedly more and more interested in cider, we seem to be losing the best places to drink the stuff – most notably Chimes in Pimlico, and The Cider Tap in Euston (which is due to turn in to The Northern Tap in September). But never fear, cider fans, as The Stable has ridden in on a white horse or two from Dorset, and settled down in Whitechapel with 80+ varieties of cider (plus the odd beer too).

Whitechapel is their fourteenth location, with Bournemouth and Kew coming up soon too, so they know what they are doing. Alongside the copious amounts of cider, there’s a lengthy pizza and pie menu worth investigating. The pizzas use a sourdough base, but they are super thin and crispy compared to the likes of Franco Manca, Pizza Pilgrims and Homeslice. They are guilty of topping overkill in places, but they manage to strike a fine balance of flavours in most cases.

From the outside, The Stable looks rather small with its cosy front room, but venture further in and you’ll find a vast cider hall with eye-catching decor and lighting. It’s a wonderful space to have a drink with large group of friends, and with the superb drinks offering, you won’t need to move all night. A real coup for Whitechapel!
