Despite drinking coffee on a daily basis, and visiting hundreds of unique cafes every year, they rarely make it to the site. Perhaps it’s because I don’t really know enough about the industry to speak with any authority, or maybe because the number of places to recommend is a little overwhelming, but I think I’m going to start to do some brief round-ups when I can. Ultimately if I can help support small independent businesses even a little, it’s worth doing.
One such spot is Birds Hill Coffee, a blink and you’ll miss it caffeine hideout round the corner from Borough station. From their La Marzocco machine they serve up Origin Resolute Espresso drinks alongside fresh juices, smoothies and baked products from Hannah’s Pantry and their Bajan neighbour Sharon. I found it completely by accident on my way to the tube, and the flat white served with a smile hit the spot. If I’m ever in the area and want a brief respite from the streets of London, this is my first port of call.
